Don’t Get Caught In This Trap

I’ve noticed something in the direct sales and network marketing industry that causes many people to get stuck in a trap. I’ve fallen into it and you might have as well.

Have fallen into the ‘always learning’ and personal development trap?

Woah there, Areefa. Everyone keeps saying that personal development is the KEY to success. Many successful people attribute personal development to their success. So why are you telling me its a trap?

Don’t jump to conclusions just yet my friend, keep on reading to understand why I say this.

Just the other day, I was grocery shopping with my husband and he told me about a guy on Facebook who made a video in front of his Lamborghini(s), and said that the reason he had everything he wanted was because of all the personal development books he read. (At that point he shows his pretty awesome library as well).

Now I AGREE that personal development is incredibly important to build your foundation for success.

However, there’s one thing that people tend to forget.

One important element that might even be number one on the list.

You can do all the training in the world, but if you do not take


you won’t get anywhere.

Don’t feel bad if you got stuck in this trap. I’ve been doing it for years. I would buy books, courses, training because I saw the value and I am a firm believer in investing in my own education. But I used to slack off and not take any action.

When you look at the people who have achieved a certain level of success, they followed a system, took consistent action, tried, failed and kept on moving forward.

If you’re not getting the results you want, it’s usually because of two reasons 1) you’re doing something wrong OR 2) you’re not doing enough of the right activities.

Most of the time, it’s because you’re not doing enough of the right activities.

The hardest part for me was to be honest with myself and to break out of this habit. I was using what some people call ‘the poke it with a stick’ method. Going in with the mindset, ‘I guess I’ll try it out for a little bit and if I don’t get results at least I could say I didn’t really try hard’.

When I study the success stories of people in this industry I find that they followed a system. They put their blinders on and focused on doing the right things long enough consistently and after a few months of that they started to experience success.

It didn’t happen overnight.

So how do you make sure you stay on the right track and do the right things long enough consistently?

Here’s two things I recommend you consider:

1) Find a leader
Someone who has been where you are and who has the success you want. Then follow and learn from them. You can even reach out and ask them for advice. Some leaders are very accessible on social media, others are not depending on their level. But if you never try then the answer will always be no. Study what they are doing, what they have done and copy what they are doing.

2) Buy specific courses 
If the leader you’re learning from has a course, invest in it. They have spent time, money, years of trial and error to get where they are. When they put out a course, they teach you what has been working for them and what will get results. And results are all that matters. You have to invest in your education if you want to duplicate the results of a leader.

Imagine if you put consistent action and personal development along with a proven system – you would be unstoppable.
