Do You Need Credibility Before You Can Succeed?
I know I used to think that way too. In this post I’m going to share with you why this belief isn’t true and how you can leverage other people’s success to build credibility.
I’ve been a part of a few network marketing companies since 2010. When I was approaching people about it, I actually avoided telling my family because of several reasons. The first, my family can be very skeptical about anything outside the norm. The second, because they always want to gauge how you are doing, they are ‘show me’ first kind of people. If they don’t see you making big money or getting drastic results, they won’t consider it.
Getting grilled and rejected did not do wonders for my self confidence which reflected on my bottom line. I lost my passion, my motivation and gave up too easily.
I remember one instance where I didn’t know all the details of the compensation plan and one person laughed me off and said how can I be doing the business when I didn’t even know that information.
So Do You Need Credibility Before You Can Succeed?
The answer is NO!!!
Let me ask you this. Think of the people who started with nothing, Hobo Joe on stage at the recognition events for your company (seriously – every company has a Hobo Joe, I love those people and their stories.), they had no credibility at all when they started. So how did they do it?
They had no credibility, barely any contacts, and might have been living out of their car.
What they did have was a powerful belief, coupled with vision. They believed that they could do it. They saw themselves being able to achieve their goals and dreams. They put their heart and soul out there and shared their passion with the world.
People know when you’re being fake.
I struggled a long time because I was an introvert and I didn’t like putting myself out there. I worried about what people would think so I always made myself smaller to fit in and stay under the radar.
It was only recently when a friend gave me a sheet of paper one summer. On it, she had a beautiful quote that forever changed my life.
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

She had no idea how much that quote changed my life.
The first thing is to change your belief. Allow yourself to be who you are and let your passion shine through. You joined your business for a reason. Share it with others and let them see the vision.
Leverage Other People’s Stories
We downplay our success too often. Even our smallest achievements – I can guarantee there is someone out there who wants to hear your story and how you did it.
If you’re not ready to share your story, you can use other people’s success stories.
Why do I say story? Facts tell, stories sell.
People want to be inspired, they don’t want to be told empty facts. You can use stories from your upline, other members in your business and share what they did, their challenges and how they overcame it.
This is such a powerful way to empower other people even if you haven’t reached success yourself.
When I first started out in my business, I used my upline’s story of how she was a mom of 3 young children, how she created a 6 figure income while raising those babies, and overcoming a serious life threatening illness. Her story was incredible. It inspired me and I shared it with others to inspire them as well.
